Where is Alcaz Island?
Alcaz Island is not a new place. In the original game it sits off the eastern coast of Dustwallow Marsh in Kalimdor, a short swim or boat ride from Theramore. Classic players know it as a hostile outdoor island packed with elite enemies and tied to the storyline of a missing diplomat — the kind of spot you visited once, died, and never returned to. Forever turns it into a proper instanced dungeon with a prison theme.
What Blizzard has not said is where the entrance portal sits, whether the outdoor island keeps its old elite population, or how the dungeon connects to the Riverglades and Mount Hyjal content shipping alongside it. Treat any map coordinates you see online as guesswork until the game is live.
Can you test Alcaz Island Prison in the beta?
Realistically, no. The beta runs September 17 to October 21, 2026 and caps play at level 30. Alcaz Island Prison is tuned for 40–60, so the three high-level dungeons fall outside what beta characters can reach. Beta access comes with the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection; the lower-level dungeons — Hall of Thanes (13–18), Lordaeron (15–20) and Dalaran (20–35) — are the ones testers can actually expect to see.
What are the bosses and loot in Alcaz Island Prison?
Unknown. Blizzard confirmed the dungeon name, the level band and the prison setting, and nothing else. No boss list, no drop table, no quest chain has been shown. This is normal for Forever right now — none of the nine new dungeons have published loot, and the raids (Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit) unlock later, on December 9, 2026. If a site lists specific Alcaz Island Prison bosses or item names today, it is speculating.
What you can reasonably plan around: a 40–60 instance in a game with no level scaling means the dungeon will matter for late leveling and for gearing before the December raid unlock. Expect it to sit in the same rotation as The Shaper's Terrace and Krol'Dok Stronghold for anyone pushing toward the endless level 60 cap.
How does it compare to the other new Forever dungeons?
- Hall of Thanes — 13–18, Alliance-flavoured, Horde can enter
- Lordaeron — 15–20, Horde-flavoured, Alliance can enter
- Dalaran — 20–35, a city dungeon
- Excavation Site — Wetlands, level range not published
- The Drowned City — troll ruin off Stranglethorn Vale, level range not published
- Blackmaw Hold — furbolg city, level range not published
- Alcaz Island Prison, The Shaper's Terrace, Krol'Dok Stronghold — the 40–60 tier
So Alcaz Island Prison is endgame-adjacent content, not a leveling stop. Together with its two siblings it is where a fresh 60 will likely spend the first weeks before raids open.
If you would rather have vetted human players clear it with you once it goes live, PewPewShop is taking Forever pre-orders now: an Alcaz Island Prison Dungeon Run (40–60) starts from EUR 22, any Forever dungeon from EUR 12, and Forever Pre-Raid Gearing from EUR 59 — all play-together or Self-Play with real players, no bots, and a long zero-ban record.
