Blizzard has not published any carry-over rules for WoW: Forever. Everything announced so far — a separate character creation window from October 27 to November 3, up to three brand-new characters, and a level cap locked at 60 — describes a fresh start rather than a transfer. Treat your Modern and Classic characters, gold and collections as staying where they are until Blizzard says otherwise.
What we actually know about Forever and your existing stuff
| Question | Status as of September 12, 2026 |
| Character transfer from Modern or Classic | Not announced. The only published path in is creating a new character. |
| Gold carry-over | Not announced. No system for moving gold between versions has been shown. |
| Mounts, pets, transmog collections | Not announced. Forever has its own transmog (opt-in per player), but no collection sync was mentioned. |
| Level and gear | Fresh start. Cap is 60 for good; new characters begin at level 1. |
| Your subscription | Carries over. Forever is included with active Game Time or a subscription — no separate purchase. |
| Upgrade pack rewards | Yes, but they are Forever-specific: Skyborne race, Zephras Isle start, Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount, cosmetics, name reservation. |
| Classic Era, Anniversary and SoD realms | Blizzard has not said what happens to them. |
The honest summary: the one thing that definitely carries over is your Battle.net account and subscription. Everything else is unconfirmed, and Blizzard's own launch plan — name reservations, a fresh 1–60 climb, raids opening December 9 — only makes sense if everyone starts from zero.

There is no announced transfer service, paid or free. The entry point Blizzard has described is Early Name Reservation and character creation between October 27 and November 3, 2026, where anyone with an upgrade pack can create up to three characters, first come first served. Names work differently here too: every character gets a Full Name made of a Main Name plus a Secondary Name, with a settings toggle for whether the secondary part is shown.
If a transfer option appears later, it will come from Blizzard directly. Until then, plan on rolling new.
Is WoW: Forever a fresh start?
Yes, in every way that has been shown. Forever is a third experience next to Modern and Classic, built by the Classic team and set in WoW's first year. Level 60 is the permanent ceiling — new content arrives in patches, not expansions. Launch adds three new zones, nine new dungeons, two new raids and the Skyborne race, so the leveling route itself is partly new, even for veterans who know Vanilla by heart.
One account-wide element does exist inside Forever: a system called Legacy, described as perks for leveling more characters. Its details were not published, and it applies within Forever, not between game versions.
Do I keep my Classic Plus progress if I level in the beta?
Unknown. Beta runs September 17 to October 21, is capped at level 30, and requires the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection. Blizzard has not stated whether beta characters survive to launch; historically test characters are wiped, so assume your real start is November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST.
What do the upgrade packs actually give you?
The Skyborne Heroic Pack (€29.99 on the EU shop) unlocks the Skyborne race with its Zephras Isle 1–12 start, name reservation, the Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount, cosmetics and one Invite-A-Friend launch code. The Epic Pack adds beta access, 30 days of game time from November 4, more cosmetics, tabards, pets and three invite codes. The Warcraft Forever Collection adds Warcraft III: Reforged, the Forsaken Kingdom campaign and housing figurines, and is sold only until January 11, 2027. Those rewards are the closest thing to "bringing something in" — and all of them are new Forever items, not your old collection.
If you would rather skip the grind part of a fresh start, PewPewShop's vetted human players offer Forever pre-orders until November 4: leveling 1–30 from EUR 13, the Riverglades stretch 30–45 from EUR 15, and a two-character Alt Pack 1–60 from EUR 240, played as coaching or Self-Play alongside you. Boosters quote two to three weeks for a full 1–60 at launch, and raid clears open December 9.
