Every confirmed gold sink in WoW: Forever

The table lists each sink with the cost Blizzard or Wowhead has published. Some numbers come from the beta, which closed on October 23, so treat those as "last seen" values rather than final launch values.

Two smaller drains run in the background. Repairs never stop, and resurrecting at a Spirit Healer cost 25% durability on the beta. Blizzard also cut the vendor price of many crafted items, so crafting just to sell to a vendor makes less money than it did in Classic.

Why Blizzard built so many sinks

The developers described players as "walking printing presses of money" in an interview with MrGM, and they said the gold sinks are deliberate. Blizzard told 4Gamers that players will earn significantly more gold in Forever than in original Classic, so the game needs places to take that gold out again.

Income keeps growing at 60 as well. Clay Stone told Friends Per Second that regular endgame activities will pay more, and a gold reward for taking part in existing systems may come later. One player report says level 60 quests pay no gold, possibly to be replaced by a weekly quest. Blizzard has not confirmed that.

Is there inflation in WoW Forever?

Nobody has measured inflation in WoW: Forever yet, and Blizzard has published no economy data. The game launched on November 4, so any "inflation chart" you see is a guess built on a few days of Auction House prices.

The design aims to slow it down. Blizzard has more gold flowing in, more sinks taking it out and a hard ceiling on the most expensive raid reagents. It has also said it will watch the economy actively.

How does the reagent price ceiling work?

A vendor sells top-end reagents at a fixed gold price with no purchase limit, so the Auction House price can't climb much higher than the vendor's. On the beta that vendor was Mister Graphed at Powderfuse Port, selling Black Lotus and Arcane Crystal for 50 gold each.

Blizzard's Clay Stone said Black Lotus should never cost more than the vendor price. Wowhead reads the setup as a guard against the price gouging seen in Classic 2019 and the Anniversary servers. The vendor also sold new materials such as Fel Crystal and Stranglevine, plus Pristine Leather and Frilled Lichen. Pyrite cost 5 gold and sold back for 1 silver, which makes the vendor a pure sink.

What is on the Black Market Auction House?

The Black Market Auction House sells rare items to the highest bidder through Madam Swyndle at Powderfuse Port. On the beta it was mostly gear going for 100 gold or more, largely a reworked Classic Dungeon Set 1 ("Tier 0"), plus pets and tabards.

The developers told MrGM the launch lineup is conservative: a few mounts, a few pets and mostly dungeon drops, such as a hat from Gandling. Rivendare's Deathcharger is no longer on it. Dungeon set pieces show up there too. That matters if you are chasing the Lord Valthalak questline, which gives a Legacy point when completed.

Do Auction House deposits really cost much?

Deposits only cost you gold when an item fails to sell. You get the deposit back on a sale and lose it if the auction expires or you cancel it. The rate is 5%, 20% or 60% of the vendor price for 2, 8 or 24 hours.

The hidden cost is the 1 silver minimum, which Wowhead says may come from the Retail client. Kris Zierhut told Crix it will return to 1 copper, without giving a date. Until then, listing a pile of cheap items loses gold every time one expires.

Can you buy gold to cover these costs?

No. Blizzard says real-money trading is not acceptable and that it is actioning both buyers and sellers in Forever. Penalties include removing the gold, suspension and permanent account closure. On the beta alone it closed more than 2,100 accounts that bought gold.

Which gold sink should you plan for first?

Plan for riding training first, then class training. Riding is the biggest single payment most players make while leveling. Class training costs about 206–207 gold spread across 60 levels, which is easy to underestimate. Respecs come third. Pick a spec and keep it, because each extra reset costs more until the weekly reset.

If you would rather spend your evenings raiding than farming riding money, PewPewShop's vetted players offer coaching and play-together progression help for Forever, from a full 1–60 to the riding skill and mount.

Frequently asked questions

What are the biggest gold sinks in WoW Forever?

Riding training (100 or 1,000 gold depending on level, with the first mount free) and class training (about 206–207 gold from 1 to 60) are the biggest for most players. At endgame, the Black Market Auction House, the reagent vendor at Powderfuse Port and rising respec costs take over.

Where is the Black Market Auction House in WoW Forever?

It is at Powderfuse Port, a small goblin outpost in the Riverglades, run by Madam Swyndle. Reach the port by boat from Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris. Developers said the launch selection is conservative: a few mounts and pets, mostly dungeon drops and dungeon set pieces.

Does WoW Forever have inflation?

No official economy data exists, and the game only launched on November 4, 2026, so real inflation can't be measured yet. Blizzard expects players to earn much more gold than in Classic, and it counters that with deliberate gold sinks and a vendor that caps prices for Black Lotus and Arcane Crystal.

Why does Black Lotus have a fixed price in WoW Forever?

A vendor sells Black Lotus with no purchase limit, so the Auction House price can't rise much above it. Blizzard's Clay Stone said Black Lotus should never cost more than the vendor price. Wowhead reads it as protection against the price gouging seen on Classic 2019 and Anniversary servers.

Is buying gold allowed in WoW Forever?

No. Blizzard bans real-money trading and takes action against buyers as well as sellers. Penalties range from removing the gold to suspension or permanent closure, and suspected accounts can get a Temporary Economy Hold that locks trading, mail and the Auction House. More than 2,100 buyer accounts were closed during the beta.

How much does a talent respec cost in WoW Forever?

Blizzard has not published a fixed price. It said respecs should not be cheap: the cost climbs quickly with each reset and goes back down once a week. You respec at a class trainer in a major city, and Legacy talents are reset the same way.
